Larnaca is Cyprus's gateway city and one of the most charming coastal towns in the Mediterranean. Just a 15-minute drive from Oroklini Beach House, the city offers a rich blend of ancient history, beachfront dining, and laid-back Cypriot culture.
Finikoudes Promenade
The heart of Larnaca is Finikoudes — a 600-metre palm-lined promenade along the seafront. The sandy beach here is Blue Flag certified, with calm shallow waters ideal for families. Along the promenade you'll find dozens of restaurants, cafes, and bars with sea views. In the evenings, the promenade comes alive with locals and visitors strolling, dining al fresco, and enjoying the sunset.
Church of Saint Lazarus
One of the most important Byzantine monuments in Cyprus, the 9th-century Church of Saint Lazarus is a stunning stone church built over the tomb of Lazarus — the biblical figure raised from the dead by Jesus. The church features remarkable iconography, carved woodwork, and a peaceful courtyard. Entry is free.
Larnaca Castle
At the southern end of Finikoudes sits the medieval Larnaca Castle, originally built in the 12th century and rebuilt by the Ottomans. Today it houses the Larnaca District Medieval Museum with displays spanning the Byzantine to Ottoman periods. The rooftop offers panoramic views over the harbour and coastline.
Dining & Nightlife
Larnaca's restaurant scene ranges from traditional Cypriot tavernas serving meze feasts to modern seafood restaurants and international cuisine. The streets behind Finikoudes — particularly Laiki Geitonia — are packed with character: narrow lanes, boutique shops, and hidden courtyard restaurants. For nightlife, the bars along the promenade and on Mackenzie seafront offer everything from cocktail lounges to live music venues.
Getting There from Oroklini
Larnaca city centre is just 12 km (15 minutes by car) from Oroklini Beach House. There are also regular local buses along the coast road. Parking is available along the seafront and in nearby car parks.
