Limassol is Cyprus's second-largest city and its most cosmopolitan. While it's the furthest day trip from Oroklini (about 1.5 hours), it's well worth the drive for its mix of ancient ruins, a beautiful marina, waterparks, and the famous wine villages of the Troodos Mountains.
Limassol Old Town
The old town is a charming web of narrow lanes, restored stone buildings, and vibrant street art. The castle (housing the Cyprus Medieval Museum) sits at its heart. The surrounding streets are filled with independent cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops. Sunday mornings bring a lively flea market near the old port.
Limassol Marina
The modern Limassol Marina is a striking contrast to the old town — luxury yachts, waterfront dining, designer boutiques, and a landscaped promenade. It's a beautiful place for a sunset walk and dinner, with restaurants serving everything from sushi to traditional Cypriot seafood.
Kourion Archaeological Site
Perched on a 100-metre cliff overlooking the sea, Kourion is one of the most spectacular ancient sites in Cyprus. The Greco-Roman amphitheatre (still used for performances today), the House of Eustolios with its intact mosaic floors, and the panoramic coastal views make this a must-visit. Allow 1–2 hours and bring water — there's little shade.
Fasouri Watermania
Cyprus's largest waterpark, Fasouri Watermania has over 30 slides and attractions spread across landscaped grounds. There are zones for all ages — gentle pools and slides for toddlers, wave pools for older kids, and adrenaline rides for adults. It's open May to October and is a guaranteed hit with families.
Wine Villages of Troodos
The Troodos Mountains behind Limassol are home to Cyprus's wine country. The villages of Omodos and Lofou are particularly beautiful — cobblestone streets, stone houses, vine-covered courtyards, and family-run wineries where you can taste Commandaria, the world's oldest named wine (produced here since the 12th century). Most wineries offer free tastings.
Getting There
From Oroklini, take the A1 motorway west — it's 82 km (about 1.5 hours). For the wine villages, continue north from Limassol into the Troodos foothills. Consider making a full day of it: Kourion in the morning, Limassol for lunch, wine villages in the afternoon.
